Mikel Arteta, the head coach of Arsenal, refused to raise the white flag in the title fight in the English Premier League this season, insisting on the continuation of the battle until the end. In his statement, he noted that with each passing day, the competition is becoming increasingly difficult, and to win the Premier League, special efforts need to be made. He emphasized that in the current situation, it may be necessary to do something that no one has done in the league's history.
"We found ourselves in a different situation recently, and we know how quickly everything can change. We need to be present and deserve the right to continue this fight," - said Arteta. The last few weeks have brought improvement in the results of Arsenal, which maintained its unbeaten streak without losses in 15 matches since November of last year; however, a defeat from West Ham turned out to be a blow to the team's chances in the fight for the title.
"Three days ago, we could have reduced the gap, and now this gap has become huge (for us to close it)," - the coach added. "Factually, there are many matches that we need to win, and we need to restore our form. We need to show the level, resilience, and desire to get back on track, and this is what we will do in the meantime," - added the Spaniard.
With Liverpool leading with 64 points after 27 games, Arsenal, striving to reclaim the title it lost during the 2003/2004 season, holds second place with 53 points from 26 matches. In only 12 remaining games to close this significant gap, Arteta noted that the challenge is not over yet, as 'the Gunners' head towards a meeting with 'Nottingham Forest', who are in third place with 47 points, aiming to return to good results and reenter the race against low-performing teams like Arne Slot's side.
"From a mathematical point of view, this is possible. You are in the game, and you need to play each match," - said Arteta.
